Those Who Are Bushi

Respect in other words is preparation. In bushido, this is called preparedness. In the Analects, it is written we should act “as if seeing an important celebrity leaving from the gate.” This is an explanation of respect. In the Wuzi it is written “From the time one leaves the gate, act as if you see your enemies.” This is an explanation of preparation. All together, this is the way of preparedness. Respect and preparation are the opposite of laziness. Laziness in other words is negligence. Those who are bushi (knights) should usually have preparedness in daily life and have nothing like negligence.
