Short Period of Time

In modern times, those who study learning rely upon their own youthfulness, postponing the taking of action for some other day. Without realizing it, life passes “like chance of a white chess piece.” Even if you live to a hundred years of age, it is a truly short period of time.

16日暫時の間なり
今世学問をする者己れの年少を恃み、何事も他日と推延ぶる者あり、殊て知らず、人生一世間、白駒の隙を過ぐるが如し、仮令百年の命を全くすとも、誠に暫時の間なり。
